Bridlewood 2005 Central Coast Viognier Reserve 14.6% alc. (100% Viognier, 4% barrel aged)
Nice little heads up bottle to preview. Where does Viognier take you? Makes me think of many things of times gone by like eating guavas under a shady tree on a hot afternoon in Cairo, a mango on a Sunday morning in Alexandria to watching an off shore storm from a hut on the beach in Negril. But it also makes you want to create a scenario. This one gave me a thread to the beach with a cooler filled with ice, a couple of bottles of the '05, a pineapple, a mango, some brie, prosciutto, a bottle of San Pellegrino and some fresh crusty bread. A warm mid-afternoon, Jack Johnson is strumming nearby, the ocean is like glass and because Jack is so quiet he doesn't interrupt the chirping crickets. A blanket is carefully laid out under a couple of good books and a small cairn of magazines or a few close friends. Real plates, silverware and crisp linens adds to the civilised atmosphere. A bite of pineapple, a sip of Viognier, now you get the idea. Drink from a tumbler to add Italian Lake Como style essence. See also Summerland pinot noir.
